According to medical information, stomatitis is a disease or infection of the mouth. Unfortunately, there are people who suffer greatly with this kind of infirmity. But more unfortunate is the fact that there are many people who suffer from spiritual stomatitis.

The most devastating of all forms of spiritual stomatitis is lying. All liars, according to the spiritual handbook of all spiritual ailments, on this and other related subjects, will be cast into the lake of fire. Another malady includes complaining, which is just as hard on those who are around it as those who suffer from it directly. Flattery is another illness often times accompanied by flirting and manipulation and is often more destructive on those receiving it. The ailment of hastiness of speech causes much, much trouble, and the sickness of idle words, though realized by others is often undetected by its carrier.

Negative speech is not only unhealthy but promotes unhealthy results for the balance of a person’s life and into their old age. This malady recently has linked up with another disease call cynicism to help paint a bleak prognosis for life in general. Probably the most contagious of all is gossip, which when delivered and received in even the smallest of portions can contaminate not only the carrier and those infected by the carrier but spreads quickly to entire groups of people.

The condition of name calling is often practiced on children who grow up conforming to the infection that oozes from the sick person. Because of modern day influences, this condition has developed into having fun and laughs at the expense of others. The common affliction of excessive talking has been known to greatly fatigue those who made the mistake to stop and listen. The merciless killer, mockery, has at its roots a debilitating lack of respect for divine principle. And profanity and obscenity ironically curse its carrier with the disrespect from others who take measures to quarantine themselves from such a festering person.

Remedy: “Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.” -Psalm 141:3
