Because we will be taking an extensive life-changing look at an analogy portrayed in the book of Isaiah, it is important to make sure you understand what an analogy is. An analogy by simple definition is the concept of making a comparison between two things that have similarities. We use analogies to help explain something and thereby make it easier for the listener or reader to understand.
Those individuals whom you consider to be the best preachers and teachers are those who can help you and other members of an audience make a connection between something with which you already have some familiarity and something that you hope to learn more about. These preachers and teachers are those who use analogies oftentimes in the form of stories and anecdotes. For this reason, the best public speaker of any kind can tell an interesting, relevant story.
Everybody loves a story because a story is information that helps us relate to the all-important point the speaker is going to make at the end of his message. The story, or any analogy, is never an end in itself. It is just a way to relate effectively to the listener initially and bring the listener to understand the final message and the related purposes.
