Hello, this is (Your name here). Thanks for taking a minute with me as I provide this update . . .

Our global mission to malnourished children using a Social Business 3.0 strategy can speak much louder to address this social ill than can the charity/donor model. This is because Social Business 3.0 funds its mission by entering the market, where all the commerce takes place (and where all the money is). However, the product we bring to market has to be consumable to encourage repeat purchases and thereby create the sustainability that our mission mandates (children need nourished every day), but more importantly, it must be proprietary. This means the product, or the technology, is owned and exclusively distributed by the Social Business 3.0 organization. This places us even more in the driver’s seat.

We don’t dare enter the market with look-alike technology or replicated products already on store shelves. Otherwise, we just blend into the woodwork and our mission, and its impact, is virtually lost in all the marketing clamor. We have to arrest the market with compelling products and do so in a market that is grossly underserved.

In contrast to Social Business 3.0, a mission funded by the charity/donor model is fundamentally limited by the discretionary income of the donors, because they draw on money left over after the bills are paid. But a little research will reveal that many if not most non-profit organizations find a way to enter the market in some manner (some might even generate as much 70% to 80% of their income). Why? The market is where the money is.

Think Girl Scout cookies, the resale shop for the pregnancy care center, and fundraisers characterized by selling pizza, candy, and snacks door-to-door that fund group travel excursions and short-term mission trips. Or the bake sale at the local church. All of these are certainly legitimate means to fund various missions, but it is not Social Business 3.0. More later . . .

Meanwhile, I am looking for kindred spirits who want to know what the financial interest might be who love the idea that we should always be careful to maintain good works to meet urgent needs and become heroes to our generation
